Course #10 – Natural Gas Generators: Practical Applications – 1 PDH (60 minutes)

Natural Gas Generators have different performance characteristics than diesel generators. It is important to know what to specify when designing a standby power system in a natural gas application. Emissions requirements, fuel piping, and different types of engine designs are considerations. This course will explain the key information for natural gas power systems. This course is free of charge.

Objectives: After this course you will be able to:

  • Explain the fundamentals of a gaseous engine, the differences between lean burn and rich burn, and two types of EPA ratings involved.
  • Understand gaseous vs. diesel comparisons regarding performance; price and benefits of paralleling.
  • Identify fuel piping system components and size the gas piping to the genset.
